Veep stars Matt Walsh and Timothy Simons are taking a leave of absence from the White House and hitting the gridiron for a new feature-length film project.
Variety reports that the pair is creating a “football comedy” called Red Shirt for Paramount studios. So far, details of the movie are scant, but we do know that it’s being produced by Ben Stiller‘s Red Hour Films, the company behind Zoolander, Dodgeball, and Tropic Thunder.
For the less sporty among you, “redshirting” is a common practice in college football, wherein a player sits out for a year in order to maintain eligibility for the following one.
HBO‘s Veep, in which Walsh plays the vice president’s director of communications Mike McLintock and Simons plays former White House liaison Jonah Ryan, was recently renewed for a fifth season.
