Samia closed out April by releasing her third LP Bloodless, a slightly countrified and occasionally cryptic take on the bedroom-pop recordings she’s steadily been churning out since 2020. In the lead-up to that release, the songwriter not only took over the FLOOD FM airwaves for a week to spin some of her favorite tracks by musicians ranging from Lucinda Williams to Doechii, but also gave fans in NYC a preview of the record when she performed songs from Bloodless at Rough Trade’s in-store venue a week prior to the project’s April 25 release date.
With the event featuring a signing in addition to a full-band set, we had FLOOD photographer Kimberely Ross onsite for the proceedings to capture scenes from various points in the day, including a series of artist portraits between all the excitement. Samia was even so kind as to share with us what’s going on, exactly, in several of the photos that prominently feature her teeth or limbs. Check out the full recap below.
