Rocket have shared a new single called “One Million”—a celebration of sorts, as it marks the LA band’s first new recording since signing with Transgressive Records and reissuing their debut EP Versions of You. The hard-charging cut glows with shredding guitar melodies and a drum groove awash in the shimmer of ride and crash cymbals. Alithea Tuttle’s vocals effortlessly move from background to foreground, situating herself in the song wherever she damn pleases.
“‘One Million’ is about wanting someone to meet you halfway but not knowing if they ever will,” said the band. “It’s the feeling of doing everything you can, going above and beyond for someone, knowing that you would wait a million years for them just to notice how important they are to you. It’s the hoping that maybe you are as important to them as well. It’s learning to be OK with the fact that you might always love them more.”
Alongside the new single, Rocket have announced their first-ever US headlining tour, kicking off this October. Before then, the band will join Mannequin Pussy for a run of EU dates this month prior to embarking on their own stretch of UK headline shows in June. Rocket will also return to the UK in August for shows with The Smashing Pumpkins. Check out all tour dates here, and watch the music video for “One Million” below.
