Coachella 2025 feels like ages ago now, but the memories and photos are forever. Soft Play are still looking back fondly at their first experience at the festival last month, where they performed both weekends on the Sonora Stage—despite the rejection of their plea to Keanu Reeves to play bass with them. “Keanu, we fucking love you, mate, we wrote a song about John Wick, from the perspective of John Wick,” they wrote on their Instagram. “We’d love for you to hear it and it would be a dream come true if you would come and play bass on it with us at Coachella.” Reeves never showed up, but Tony Hawk did, as did scores of other fans hoping to witness the English punk duo’s raucous mid-day sets.
Soft Play’s Isaac Holman (lead vocals, drums) and Laurie Vincent (backing vocals, guitar, bass) took us behind the scenes of their time in the desert. Check out the photos and the band’s commentary below, and catch them when they return Stateside for their headlining tour in September.
