Thom Yorke has shared a new single entitled “Dialing In,” which is set to be the opening theme for Apple TV+’s forthcoming miniseries Smoke. The track kicks off with droning synths and an ominous melody performed on a bell-like synthesizer. Yorke’s vocals float above the instrumental like a layer of fog (or smoke), both its own entity and part of the entire landscape. The song may be recognizable to attendees of Yorke’s live show as it shares some melodic similarities to the unreleased track “Gawpers.”
“Working with Thom Yorke was as much an honor for me as working with Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, or Richard Price,” said Smoke creator and executive producer Dennis Lehane. “I've somehow been blessed with collaborating with living legends who were also formative influences on my own creative life. Thom is definitely that. In addition, he took a basic concept I gave him and delivered a song that perfectly embodies the show and absolutely crushes.”
