If Deerhoof’s output over the past three decades has ever given you the impression that their music is less the product of a quartet of urban-dwelling avant-garde indie-pop musicians than it is the emanations from some sort of woodland nymph collective (a theory supported by the constant that is puckish vocalist Satomi Matsuzaki and seemingly confirmed on a guest verse from poet Saul Williams on their latest record), their supposed photo recap of backstage antics from a recent show in Oregon only confirms the great outdoors as their natural habitat. The band began the West Coast leg of their tour supporting their latest studio output, Noble and Godlike in Ruin, with a show at Portland’s Revolution Hall—which may or may not be the greenroom setting of the images they’ve submitted to us for our BTS photo series.
While the band is currently embarking on the East Coast leg of their tour, you can take a stroll with them through a locale that is undoubtedly green below. Check out their upcoming dates here—a portion of proceeds from ticket sales will presumably go toward percussionist Greg Saunier’s phone storage.
