Girls Tones—the duo of mononymous sisters Kenzie and Laila—have shown us their garage-rock mettle over the past couple years with a slew of singles that reflect the gritty revivalism of The White Stripes’ early run of records. With the help of producer Brad Shultz, singles like “Blame,” “Again,” and “Fade Away” have proven the pair worthy of opening for Shultz’s band Cage the Elephant and their alt-rock radio peers Silversun Pickups, with whom Girl Tones are currently on the road.
Before the band brings the thunder to Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees, and Austin City Limits in the coming months, they’re sharing another new track titled “Got It”—a thumping, punky cut that plays up the project’s inherent angst within their minimal compositions. “‘Got It’ is a very charged song for me,” Kenzie confirms. “It was born out of anger and defiance. Ultimately it is about holding your ground in the face of uncertainty, and taking that leap of faith to fulfill your dreams.”
The track arrives with a colorful stop motion lyric video, which you can check out below. You can also find all of the band’s upcoming tour dates here.
