Scottish songwriter Theo Bleak returned back in May with another EP of thrumming indie-folk, the latest in a constant stream of output dating back to 2022. The five tracks on Bad Luck Is Two Yellow Flowers together create something intentionally multidimensional, with the full composition meant to paint a portrait of a friend’s inner life. “Each song represents a different facet of our blurry friendship,” Bleak shared upon the project’s release. “The title imagery is tied to ideas of superstition, astrology, and the feeling of deep, unwavering longing.”

Today, she brings the EP’s opener, “Peach Sky,” to a stripped-down “Neighborhoods” session filmed in her hometown of Dundee with longtime collaborator Mark Johnston assisting her on acoustic guitar. “The location in the video is my back garden in Broughty Ferry, just outside my studio,” she explains. “Mark and I started our musical journey 15 years ago, rehearsing in the garage after school, which we have since renovated into a studio. I spend so much time in the garden, listening to the outside world and working away on music.”

Of the third figure appearing in the video, she adds: “The video was so fun to shoot as I was looking after my friend's dog, Flora. She is such a Velcro dog, she demanded to be in the video in the end.”
