Dana Foote is back with new Sir Chloe music, this time in the form of “Passenger,” the third single from her sophomore LP, Swallow the Knife. “Passenger“ features Foote singing about soaking cigarettes in gasoline and searching fruitlessly for relief—a theme that appears throughout the entire album. The chugging of the drums acts as a boisterous sidekick for the yelping, buzzy guitars and bubbling low-end bass melody.
Regarding the new track, Foote said: “I imagined the anguish I experienced while making this record as a passenger who traveled with me. It sat on my chest like a rabid chimp, swiping at my face. I sing a lot about longing for relief on this record, because for a long time, I couldn’t get any. You just have to wait it out and be sane and perfect and calm and smiling with your nose ripped off.”
