After returning last year following a seven-year absence, Portland’s Project Pabst continued to remind us over the weekend how much the two-day music (and, of course, beer) festival was missed. This year’s installment saw exciting performances from new wave and punk icons like Iggy Pop and Devo on Saturday evening, while the Sunday lineup focused on indie rock heavy-hitters, such as Death Cab for Cutie and Japanese Breakfast. Elsewhere, more contemporary indie-punk acts like Mannequin Pussy, FIDLAR, and Gouge Away kept things heated, while reunion performances from Cap’n Jazz and The Exploding Hearts added an element of nostalgia.
