Between Ray Velcoro’s CD of choice on True Detective (Spoiler Alert!) and the newly released teaser for Vinyl, it’s clear that someone at HBO is a big New York Dolls fan.

Or maybe it’s a coincidence, but all the same, the Dolls are certainly a good backdrop for Vinyl—the upcoming ten-episode drama from Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, and Terence Winter, which focuses on the drugs, sex, and rock and roll of NYC in the ’70s. You know, basic boring stuff.

The show is still a ways off (it won’t air until 2016), and plot details are minimal (basically Bobby Cannavale is a music exec working to keep his label—and himself—alive), but from the breakneck speed of the trailer, it seems like this should be a hell of a ride.

No more talk, Chatterbox, just watch.
