Gorillaz Set to Take the Virtual Stage at Fortnite Festival

Season 10 of the in-game event kicks off tomorrow.

Festival season may be winding down IRL, but Gorillaz have just booked another headlining gig—this time for Fortnite’s in-game festival for its tenth season. The virtual band feels like an obvious fit for the virtual event, with Noodle, 2D, Russel Hobbs, and Murdoc Niccals taking the virtual main stage tomorrow, following in the footsteps of The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Metallica, and other headliners from prior seasons. “It’s an honour for all of you that I am finally to be immortalised in my own fiefdom,” shared the band’s Murdoc. “Watch out serfs, here I come.”

There will be additional Gorillaz tie-ins to the Fortnite universe, including the band’s songs “Dare,” “Clint Eastwood,” and “On Melancholy Hill” joining the list of Jam Track and all four band members becoming playable characters. On the less-virtual front, Epic Games will be hosting a Fortnite Festival IRL event in London through September 3. The pop up at Hackney Bridge Garden promises “an immersive activation filled with gaming stations, giveaways, live game streams, and DJ performances.” There’s something for everyone! Except for maybe those of us too old to know what any of these words mean.
