Ahead of a North American tour beginning later this week, Sparks have announced that their first-ever EP, MADDER!, will arrive on October 3 via Transgressive Records. A companion release to their latest full-length, this past May’s MAD! LP, MADDER! kicks off with first single “Porcupine,” which is out today. The new single is a playful synth-pop romp from brothers Ron and Russell Mael. It’s a creepy, rhyme-heavy cruncher that gives the song about a particularly fickle love interest a playful, charming edge.
“Not wanting the MAD!-ness to end and buoyed by the phenomenal reaction to MAD!, we made a hasty but intense retreat to the studio to record a Sparks first: an EP,” the band said. “MADDER!, a four-song companion piece to the album, is for everyone who isn’t yet MAD! enough. We hope these new songs will take you to an even MADDER! place.”
