Gorillaz are back with “The Manifesto,” the second single to be released from their forthcoming studio album, The Mountain, following the Sparks collaboration “The Happy Dictator.” The single, which features Latin GRAMMY-winning Argentine rapper Trueno and an unused vocal from the late D12 emcee Proof, is an epic, seven-minute track built around the artists Gorillaz recruited for the stellar cut. Proof’s verse comes after the song’s breakdown, offering an emotional finale paying tribute to the band’s departed collaborator. The track also features sarod players (and brothers) Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, bansuri player Ajay Prasanna, brass from Jea Band Jaipur, and The Mountain Choir led by Vijayaa Shanker.
“As space dust we are here forever and that’s a mighty long time,” shared Gorillaz’s Russel Hobbs. “This is a musical meditation infused with light. A journey of the soul, with beats…“
