It’s been five years since Peter Bjorn and John have released a new album, yet the Swedish trio’s namesakes have been keeping plenty busy. While Björn Yttling is fresh off the release of a new jazz LP (and last year’s Abstract Crimewave full-length, alongside Caesars’ Joakim Åhlund), bandmate Peter Morén has been honing his songwriting and production skills for other writers, in addition to sharing his second collection of collaborative alt-folk under the SunYears moniker back in August.
In the midst of this busy schedule, Morén took to the park area of Vita Bergen in Stockholm, Sweden’s Södermalm neighborhood to perform the The Song Forlorn album cut “Last Night on the Mountain” for “Neighborhoods” (a natural fit, given that “vita bergen” translates to “white mountains”). Set up on a scenic overlook of the area, Morén is joined by collaborator Andreas Nordell to deliver a rendition of the song stripped back to acoustic guitar and double bass. Check it out below.
