Launched in 2015, San Diego’s biannual CRSSD festival has consistently curated two-day lineups celebrating the best current electronic acts across EDM, indie-pop, house, techno, and everything in between for weekend events in early spring and late summer. This past September’s edition notably featured Empire of the Sun, Boys Noize, Purple Disco Machine, Caribou, Blawan, Darkside, and Fcukers, among many other artists, both established and up-and-coming.

Also among the slate was UK duo Maribou State, who first turned heads in 2018 with their second album Kingdoms in Colour. Visiting the State to promote their follow-up project released back in January, Hallucinating Love, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory (and their entourage) made the most of their time on the West Coast, as the artists have long derived inspiration from their time abroad. As seen in the photo diary they kept of their time in Southern California, that included plenty of hikes, leisure time, and team-building activities, such as group meals and sauna trips. Check out their recap of the weekend in photos below.

We form a tight bond as a band on the road. Eating together is one of our favorite things.

Touring is yang, we always make time for yin.

Unique bonds are formed.

On the move, as usual.

Always active, always exploring.

The bond stretches wide to our crew—again, we love eating together.

Backstage smiles. If it’s not fun, something’s not working.

More backstage smiles.

We always have friends in tow, which we are fortunate of.

More teaming building—if not in a restaurant, then often a sauna.
