The bad news for fans of Amyl and the Sniffers in their hometown of Melbourne last night (Australian Eastern Time) was that the band’s free, all-ages show in the city’s Fed Square was shut down due to safety concerns before it even began after a surge of fans rushed the barricades. The good news for those fans (well, those of legal drinking age), though, was that the band apologized for the incident by putting down a $5,000 bar tab at a slew of local venues.

“HAVE A DRINK ON US,” the band wrote on Instagram, captioning a video of band leader Amy Taylor explaining what exactly went down. “WE ARE HEArRTBROKEN AND SO SORRY - APPAREBTLYY THE BARRIERS WERE RUSHED AND IT WASNT SAFE SO THE COPS SHUT IT DOWN. WE LOVE YOU MELBOURNE YEW.”

Check out the video below. Given that it’s now 5:30 a.m. in Melbourne, I’d guess that those tabs have been closed.
