When Dutch indie rockers The Vices released their third album Before It Might Be Gone back in February, it almost feels like they were thinking ahead. Nearly eight months later, the project would re-emerge before the band projected that it might be removed from listeners’ rotations in the form of a deluxe edition that included the new track “I Know,” a first-ever studio recording of “Piano Song,” and alternate versions of the album tracks “Gold” and “Only for a While,” as well as three live recordings—including a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” (RIP Ozzy).

Ahead of a set of tour dates in Europe planned to close out 2025, the band’s vocalist Floris van Luijtelaar shared yet another alternate version of “Gold” via the “Neighborhoods” session he filmed for us. Set up with just an acoustic guitar at a skatepark in the band’s hometown on Groningen, Netherlands, van Luijtelaar strips the song down even further into the territory of acoustic balladry. Check it out below.
