After years of releasing compelling indie-pop EPs defined by their engaging narratives, LA-based songwriter BEL dropped her debut full-length back in October with Holy Grail—a cathartic project in more ways than one, as songwriter Isabel Whelan explained upon its release. “I wanted so many things for my life and career that all seemed so out of reach,” she noted of when the record began coming together. “Every song on the album is an archive of my hopes, dreams, joys, sorrows, and self-reflections in my quest for the Holy Grail.”
To close out her own momentous year, we asked BEL to also close out the year for FLOOD FM’s “Hacked” series, with an exciting takeover featuring a few standouts from Holy Grail alongside familiar favorites by Radiohead, Dora Jar, and Porches, as well as New Radical’s newly resurfaced hit. Check out the episode every day this week (December 8 – 12) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. only on FLOOD FM.
