Oxis, who is pioneering a previously unknown (to me) genre called “Marine Electronica,” is back with a starch-heavy single entitled “Fingerling” (not my favorite potato, but quite good). The downtempo cut features layers of the songwriter’s vocals manipulated and glitched, set above a bed of percussion and handclaps. A bass line toward the end of the song sounds like “The Chain” for a second.
The track will be featured on Oxis 8, which will be released on January 16 via Boom Records. Regarding the new album, Oxis said: “The pain and beauty of it all is that nothing is constant, and when something feels sensitive and powerful you have to bite at it quickly, or else it disappears.”
Bite at it like a fingerling potato, perhaps. Check out the track below and pre-order Oxis 8 here.
