It isn’t everyday that you see indie-rock heavy-hitters like Sharon Van Etten, CHVRCHES, Silversun Pickups, and Sylvan Esso assembled on one track list—nor is it everyday that the songs attributed to these artists feature titles like “Party in My Tummy” and “Sometimes Turtles Eat Waffles.” Yet it all makes sense when you recall that the new-wave-y Nickelodeon kids’ series Yo Gabba Gabba! was revived by Apple TV+ back in 2021, with the second season of Yo Gabba GabbaLand kicking off at the end of the month.

To coincide with that premiere date, the series will also release its star-studded soundtrack that day, which also includes songs performed by Sleigh Bells, Santigold, hemlocke springs, Still Woozy, Hatchie, Chicano Batman, King Tuff, Yola, and Flea, as well as material from retired outfits CHAI and Mates of State. The track list also includes kids’ show theme HOFer Ziggy Marley, an appearance from Tiffany Haddish, and, of course, a song by The Aquabats, whose frontman Christian Jacobs co-created the series.

Today we also get to hear Silversun Pickups’ contribution to the soundtrack, a cover of the series staple “Party in My Tummy” that was produced by Butch Vig. “We were given the keys to a track that also means a lot to people,” shared the Pickups’ Brian Aubert. “We did not take this task lightly. We tried our best not to mess with it too much, but still, hopefully adding something fresh. This whole thing was such a pleasure. So yummy. So yummy.”
