Death Cab for Cutie have been playing in the majors for over 20 years now, with their last six albums dropping via Atlantic Records. That all ends today with the news that the group have signed with ANTI- Records, the storied folk- and R&B-leaning sister label to Epitaph Records. With no new music yet to speak of, the band seems stoked to be joining the label’s lineage, and to follow up 2022’s Asphalt Meadows under a new context. “We are thrilled to be joining the roster at ANTI- which includes some of our favorite artists, old friends and in many cases, both,” bandleader Ben Gibbard shared this morning. “We also can’t wait to begin this new chapter with the wonderful staff at ANTI- and share with you what we’ve been working on.”

In addition to this news, Gibbard also shared that the band will be gearing up for yet another extensive set of North American dates, with Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, and Nation of Language tagging along on various tour stops. “One of my favorite parts of being in this band is getting to be out on the road with artists that inspire us,” Gibbard added. “Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som and Nation of Language have made some of our favorite albums in recent years and we’re stoked they’ll be joining us this summer.”

I guess he hasn’t been training for marathons for nothing—dual-headlining stadium shows with DCFC and The Postal Service over the past few years hasn’t seemed to slow him down a bit. Check out the upcoming tour dates below, and revisit our review of Asphalt Meadows here.
