Julia’s War Recordings is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore in the 2020s revival of grunge, shoegaze, and slacker rock, with the Philadelphia-based label already responsible for a handful of 2026’s buzziest releases within the growing realm where those three ’90s-sourced genres intersect. Among their roster this year is Brooklyn’s Ringing, a trio led by Colton Walker that matches the label’s penchant for soft-loud dynamics defined by soft vocals and scuzzy riffs.

We still have another month to go before their debut album Another Cycle in the Cosmic Wash drops, but today the band is sharing another preview in the form of the in-turns thrashing and reflective self-betterment anthem “want2want2.” Opening with blistering guitars, the track soon accommodates Walker’s softly contemplative lyrics before the two sonic poles meet later in the song. “This song is about the frustration of longing for something better when you feel stuck in a pattern,” he explains. “It’s easy to slip into apathy, even when you know it’s holding you back. Ultimately, though, it’s about the moment of clarity where you make a decision to do something about it.”

Directed by Noah Yu Schifrin, the track’s music video aptly features footage of the band shredding intercut with Walker on a solo journey with what looks like a homemade portable IV drip. Check it out below, and pre-order Another Cycle on tape here via Julia’s War or on vinyl here via Signal//Noise.
