Violet Grohl has announced that her debut album, Be Sweet to Me, is set to be released on May 29 via Auroura Records/Republic Records. The latest cut from the project, “595,” was inspired by a T-shirt advertising a phone sex hotline and arrives with a music video directed by Nikki Milan Houston. The track follows previously released singles “THUM” and “Applefish,” both of which will be included on the album, as well as Grohl’s tribute to the late David Lynch shared earlier this year on what would have been his 80th birthday.
Be Sweet to Me was recorded at producer Justin Raisen’s home studio and features a collection of players that was assembled in the spirit of the Wrecking Crew session players from the ’60s and ’70s. “There’s something so powerful about that period of music, from the messaging to the visuals, it’s authentic and raw,” Grohl shared. “I’ve listened to that stuff since I was a kid.” Dave Grohl’s kid, to be exact.
