Asbury Park–based songwriter Cory Blair is sharing a new single today entitled “Other Side,” an experimental pop cut built around some bleeps and bloops and bass lines that coalesce around her powerful voice. “I feel a little bit shaky / And a little bit stronger,” Blair sings. Electronic drum fills and glowing guitar chords gives the song a retro—though never nostalgic—feel.
“‘Other Side’ is for anyone going through a crisis or change in their life,” Blair says regarding the cut, which she recorded with Luke Temple. “The song marked the start of me bringing my original music back to the US after living in Berlin for six years. I wanted to establish my solo project by recording in home studios with people I genuinely felt connected to. The song touches on the bittersweet feelings that come with departure or loss—but it’s also a reminder that you will cross paths with your loved ones again. I hope that idea makes this song uplifting for people. At least that’s how it made me feel while writing it and producing it with Luke.”
