Creativity is less of a faucet with a simple on-off toggle than it is something unpredictable—a succession of fruitful periods and dry spells that tend to be inconvenient when planning one’s next move. The release of his “January” and “Multiphase” singles earlier this year may have clued Bayonne fans into the fact that Roger Sellers is back in the zone after a fairly quiet couple of years that mostly just saw him dropping remixes and material from the earliest chapters of his career. And today we get “Oxygen,” a vibrant, glittering post-chillwave number that exudes an unignorable sense of confidence

“I was feeling really anxious about approaching music,” Sellers explains of bouncing back from a moment of creative block. “I’ve had times in my life where, especially when I’m about to start something, it can be really difficult to get back in that mode. It feels like such a sacred place, and it’s hard to just pop in and out of. In a lot of my songs, I’m having a conversation with myself. ‘Oxygen’ is that internal conversation about believing in myself again.”

“Oxygen,” “January,” and “Multiphase” will all appear on Sellers’ forthcoming fourth album Filters, which has been announced with a September 4 release date via Nettwerk. Check out the latest single below, and pre-order the record here.
