Sharada Shashidhar has unveiled “With Myself,” a new single set to be featured on her forthcoming album A Foot on the Ground. Recorded with Patrick Warren, the track features Shashidhar’s stirring voice pushing up against an ever-growing suite of strings. It’s an improvised dance, of sorts, in which the LA-based artist reacts in real time to the instrumental melodies around her.
“I came to the studio on this day particularly drained and vocally frustrated,” Shashidhar shares. “I sang and played piano and improvised quietly and honestly. With the support of Patrick’s beautiful string arrangement, it blossomed into a committed moment with myself.”
