Those mates from Leeds Yard Act have announced their return with You’re Gonna Need a Little Music, which will arrive two and a half years after Where’s My Utopia? on July 17. The album was recorded between Leeds and Los Angeles with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen, and featured the group recording live in the same room for the first time.
“The first two records were both laptop records essentially,” said the band’s lead vocalist James Smith. He spoke about how they were able to dedicate an “uninterrupted five month period” to the album, which resulted in dozens of songs to sort through. “It felt like freedom,” he added. “It felt like everything I’d wanted from being in a band.”
