Chapterhouse were among the casualties of the early-’90s shift from shoegaze’s initial moment in the UK’s rock spotlight to the cleaner sounds of Britpop, with the Reading band calling it quits after two albums despite the acclaim their 1991 debut Whirlpool received. Obviously, we’ve come back around to shoegaze in a big way since then, leading to a pretty considerable faction of Chapterhouse’s peers to reconvene and tour in support of their heavily influential early material. Now, Chapterhouse themselves are hitting North America this weekend in celebrating of their debut’s 35th anniversary, with a series of headlining dates being padded out by slots at shoegaze-centric mini-festivals where they’ll rub elbows with some of the scene’s most exciting new bands.

Before their tour kicks off on Sunday in DC, the band is taking over FLOOD FM this week with a new episode of “Hacked” in which they pay homage to peers like Cocteau Twins, The Cure, and Dinosaur Jr., as well as younger acolytes like Beach House and ambient folk artist Daisy Rickman. Check out the episode every day this week (May 11 – 15) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT on FLOOD FM, and grab tickets for their upcoming dates here.
