Jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan has teamed up with legendary Brazilian artist Milton Nascimento for a new single called “Meditation,” which will be included on Jordan’s upcoming LP Feather in the Wind. Originally written by the late Brazilian composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, “Meditation” was recorded back in 2014 in Minas Gerais, the area of Brazil where Nascimento was born.

“Recording ‘Meditation’ with Milton was like fulfilling a dream I’d been carrying since 1976, when I first heard him on Native Dancer,” Jordan shares, referring to the 1975 album Wayne Shorter recorded with Nascimento. “We were so lucky to have Dudu Lima, Ricardo Itaborahy, and the legendary Mamão with us in the studio in Minas Gerais to record this, and Milton’s instinct for the arrangement really helped the whole thing come together. With Mamão gone and Milton mostly retired, I’m deeply grateful we captured this when we did.”

Feather in the Wind will be released in the fall. For now, check out “Meditation” below.
