Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party was one of the unfortunate music festivals that launched immediately before COVID struck, with the event’s 2019 inaugural showcase bringing headliners Death Cab for Cutie for a one-day festival that mirrored the modesty of its name. Since then, of course, the event has not only weather that storm but evolved into a full-on weekend-long festival of indie rock nostalgia and showcases of emerging talent, with this year’s edition featuring three full days of exciting acts headlined by sets from Lorde, Turnstile, and the recently reunited The xx.
FLOOD was onsite once again this year to catch those acts and more, including Magdalena Bay, The Last Dinner Party, Japanese Breakfast, Lucy Dacus, Blood Orange, Alex, G, and the funhouse spectacle that is Gelli Haha. Check out Christian Sarkine’s photos from the weekend below.
