Nashville’s Moody Joody has been a reliable source for soaring alt-pop singles since 2020, when the group released their first track. Last week, they finally announced their debut album, with Plain Jane slated to arrive on October 30 via Photo Finish Records. Aligning with the Halloween season, the record’s early singles have been focused on Michael Myers milieu, the American suburbs, albeit without all the stalking and murder and stuff. Among the track list are songs called “Little Blue House” and, more aptly, “Suburbia,” which have both served as pre-album singles setting the scene for what’s to come.

Moody Joody chose both of these tracks to perform for their “Neighborhoods” session filmed in their hometown of Nashville. Rather than setting up in any of the city’s urban spaces, they instead felt it might be more appropriate to stay true to the album’s aesthetic. “We all grew up in the suburbs of different parts of the country—Utah, Missouri, and Jersey,” the group shares. “We wanted to film something that reflected that feeling among all of our upbringings to reflect ‘Little Blue House’ and ‘Suburbia.’ We all met in Tennessee and formed the band here. These videos were filmed in Kaitie’s neighborhood and we wanted to capture that Tennessee suburban feel outside—on a couch, birds chirping, green trees, and planes overhead—but inviting you into our living room and world of these songs.”
