Dawn Richard has announced that her new LP Creole Culture will be released on October 9 via Merge Records. Out now is “Enough,” following the Durand Bernarr–assisted “Baby, Can We?” which was released earlier this summer. Regarding the new cut, Richard said that it’s “about unlearning the lie that your value has to be earned. Sometimes the greatest act of resistance is believing you were always worthy.”
The album was made with co–executive producer Katalyst, the Inglewood-based group founded by percussionist Greg Paul. Regarding the record’s message, Richard added: “Creole Culture is my way of saying that New Orleans culture doesn’t have to live in the past to be authentic. It can be progressive. It can be global. It can be pop culture. It can look like me.”
