2015. Dream Machines, “Recall” video

Freeway underpasses, the swampy LA river, dirty parking lots, and a darkened alley. These might seem like a short list of locations for a gritty crime show, but in reality, these seemingly undesirable locations are the setting for Dream Machines‘ brand-new music video. And, somehow, the guys make all of them look good.

Harry May-Kline and Luke Burba specialize in dance-floor-ready rock. Their third single as Dream Machines, “Recall,” is no different. It’s a synth-drenched jam whose tune will not get out of your head. May-Kline, whose insane dance moves and piercing falsetto star in the track’s video, recently explained why “Recall” is more than just another Saturday night banger: “We wrote ‘Recall’ as an expression of anxiety, specifically about communication and dealing with these problems as two people who don’t like to intellectualize their feelings.”

Watch the duo’s ’80s-inspired video—which May-Kline said was created almost entirely on the fly, “guerrilla style”—below.

Dream Machines will be releasing their debut EP later this fall, but they’ll be at El Cid in Los Angeles on Friday, September 25. Don’t miss them.
