Heavens to Betsy—Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney and Tracy Sawyer of The Husbands, The Flying Tigers, and The Lies—recently reunited for their first concert in over 30 years, where they also confirmed dates for a fall tour. Now, the duo have shared that they’ll be releasing Baby’s Gone, which marks their first project since their sole album in 1994. The collection consists of a never-before-heard demo tape from 1992 that was recorded with Bratmobile’s Molly Neuman, who also penned the liner notes for the new release. Also included on Baby’s Gone is 1993’s These Monsters Are Real EP and the 1994 “Direction” 7”-inch

“I wasn't sure if I would ever revisit Heavens to Betsy,” Sawyer confessed, “and then when we started talking more about it, and feeling how relevant the subjects are today, almost even more so than they were back then…it just seemed like just the perfect opportunity to be doing this. Just to know each other again as adults and as mothers, it's really cool. Once we started playing again, it was like muscle memory.”

Added Tucker about their relationship with Neuman: “Molly's such a leader, and she’s…such an intellectual. She grasped right away that it was important for young women to have these tools to express themselves… She was so confident and so unafraid to just be like, ‘Yeah, why don’t I just record that for you? I’ll just check out the Tascam from the AV library at Evergreen and do it.’”

The release will arrive on October 16 via Kill Rock Stars in two different vinyl pressings, on CD, and on cassette. Out now is “Ain’t Never Goin’ Back,” which was, of course, previously unheard. Check that out below, and pre-order Baby’s Gone here.
