The writing period for Tasha’s fourth album You Are the Spring! was certainly an eventful one, as the Chicago-born songwriter was in the process of relocating to NYC after being cast in the Sufjan Stevens–inspired musical Illinoise. While her trademark gentle indie-rock tunes and lilting folk continued to be the palette for her follow-up to All This and So Much More, the new record delineates a new chapter for the songwriter, as if achieving her Broadway dreams provided a newfound sense of confidence that’s immediately apparent in her latest solo material.

Following the album’s release back in June, Tasha filmed a “Neighborhoods” session for us in her favorite park in the Queens neighborhood of Ridgewood. Strumming through the album cut “Promise” on acoustic guitar on a warm July afternoon, the gentle rendition reflects the mood of the track itself: “a song about open-heartedness, play, and finding your way in the summer,” she shares with us. The familiar sounds of a nearby ice cream truck provide the perfect punctuation to the clip.
