Last year, This American Life spinoff Serial took the podcast world—and then the world itself—by storm with its investigation of a fifteen-year-old murder case that didn’t quite add up. The series made such an impact that its subject was granted an appeal.

Now, according to Maxim, Serial‘s next subject will be Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, a U.S. soldier who was held prisoner by a Taliban affiliate after mysteriously disappearing from his post in Afghanistan in 2009.

As Maxim summarizes, Bergdahl claims he left his post “to cause a scene that would ultimately draw attention to conditions in his unit that he found troubling,” though his story “contradicts the accounts of multiple soldiers who served with Bergdahl in Afghanistan.”

As previously reported, Serial plans on following up their wildly popular first season with not one, but two stories this fall, so prepare for a dramatic couple of months.
