Meiv is the new partnership of Hong Kong–based ambient-glitch collagist Eugene Nx and his Tokyo-based collaborator Curinus, featuring the vocals of Nx’s young daughter Sara. The result is every bit as interesting as their unique take on international and familial collaboration is, with today’s reveal of their bass-heavy debut single “Dedeoka” sounding like a dancier version of Nx’s electro-futurist solo recordings with Sara’s vocoded vocals helping to ease it into the realm of pop music.
The single was also produced by Body Meat, which helps explain the erratic nature of its deconstructed and percussion-heavy sound. Check it out below, and expect more from the trio in the near future.
