Next month, Crown Publishing’s Clarkson Potter imprint will be releasing a new book titled On the Records: 80 Musicians on Beloved and Overlooked Records, which is exactly what its subtitle implies: a vast array of artists sharing essays about their favorite albums. Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, Turnstile’s Brendan Yates, The Roots’ Black Thought, Kelela, Jamie xx, Earl Sweatshirt, Brian Eno, Laufey, Four Tet, Jamila Woods, Margo Price, Oneohtrix Point Never, Philip Glass, and many more will be included in the collection put together by Brian Beck with the assistance of Piotr Orlov.

Among the more intriguing selections: Adrianne Lenker on Big Thief’s late collaborator Tucker Zimmerman, Ben Gibbard on Werner Herzog film scorers Popol Vuh, Billie Eilish on French art-pop duo The Dø (and her brother FINNEAS on Feist), Brittany Howard on Nina Simone, Dolly Parton on her mother Avie Lee Parton, Erykah Badu on Prince, Deafheaven’s George Clarke on M83, Tortoise’s Jeff Parker on MF DOOM, Kenneth Blume (f.k.a. Kenny Beats) on Jai Paul, Moses Sumney on Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Prince Paul on Noname, Sampa the Great on (who else) W.I.T.C.H., Tina Weymouth on Tinariwen, and Yaeji on Little Dragon.

The book was printed in full color, befitting the album’s many covers, and a portion of the proceeds from its release will benefit Deaf Defy and Deaf Child Worldwide. Check out the full list of contributors via the book’s cover below, and revisit our own print piece on artists’ (recent) favorite albums here.
