Last night marked the first evening of Chappell Roan’s two-night takeover of LA’s Shrine Auditorium with the debut of her annual Super Graphic Spectacular event. The festivities kicked off with drag performances from Kyra Jeté and Amanda Lepore as well as standup routines from the evening’s emcee, Caleb Hearon, before Lola Young kicked off the musical performances, followed soon after by Tinashe. The main event, though, was Roan herself, who brought out Christina Aguilera during her performance of “Coffee” (they also performed Christina’s “Beautiful”) and also debuted her verse from the new remix of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Expectations.”
Elsewhere, Chappell hit all the fan favorites—“The Subway,” “Red Wine Supernova,” “Hot to Go!”—before closing the set with “Pink Pony Club,” a natural fit given its allusions to West Hollywood and Santa Monica. Altogether, the event raked in over $800,000 in proceeds, which Roan’s Midwest Princess Project will use to support trans youths across the US.
Ahead of tonight’s show with MUNA and Caroline Polachek filling in for Lola Young and Tinashe, check out photos from the event shot by Daniela Shella below.
