Last week, Eva Mendes hyped up the potential return of Dead Man’s Bones, the spooky-season indie-pop project of her husband Ryan Gosling alongside screenwriter Zach Shields (and, historically, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music Children’s Choir). Mendes shared a video clip from the duo’s “In the Room Where You Sleep” on Instagram and concluded her caption with, “Sure wish they had new music coming out…” By miracle of all miracles, Mendes has got her wish, and Dead Man’s Bones have shared their first new song in 17 years. If only she’d posted about her desire for new DMB music a decade ago!
Produced with collaborator Tim Anderson, and arriving with a video starring Noah Jupe and Rain Spencer, “Lost in the Night” comes just in time for Halloween. Gosling and Shields reportedly took their song concept to a number of studios across LA, only to end up bringing two guitars, two drum machines, and two synthesizers to a farm outside the city where they recorded the song in a single day.
