Bad Brains, Are You Ready

With these raw recordings from 1979, the DC band provides a glimpse into the birth of modern hardcore-punk—which would be far more exciting if we didn’t already have the incendiary Black Dots collection.

The Olivia Tremor Control, The Same Place

A sense of mortality hangs over the band’s final opus despite otherwise picking up right where they left off 27 years ago in proving that psych rock can be so much more than pastiche.

Queens of the Stone Age, Perfecth

The one-time stoner rockers sound totally at ease on an uncharacteristically relaxed-fit release that puts Josh Homme’s personality front-and-center.

The Womack Sisters stopped by A Colors Show to perform a live rendition of “I Am Your Season,” one of many standout tracks from the trio’s self-titled debut LP for Daptone. In the performance video, sisters BG, Zeimani, and Kucha perform against a striking yellow backdrop—the titular color—showcasing the vintage soul vibes and breathtaking vocals that have become their calling card.
