Ello Asty “Star Wars”

For something that purported to have happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars sure feels current. Blame it on the multiple universes theory (or, you know, there’s always the ancient astronaut thing), but it seems that at least one new character in the Star Wars universe knows his way around The Five Boroughs.

Meet Ello Asty. That’s right, as Stereogum reports (via io9), The Force Awakens will feature a pilot whose name is a couple of initials away from the title of the Beasties Boys‘ weirdly underrated 1998 record Hello Nasty. What’s more, a bit of graffiti on Asty’s helmet reads “Born to Ill” in the fictional language Aurebesh, and as Making Star Wars points out, he’s a member of the Abednego species—Abednego being the compatriot of Meshach and Shadrach, the biblical trio who were tossed into a fire by King Nebuchadnezzar but whose bodies did not burn, and the latter of whose names would many years later be the title of a track on Paul’s Boutique.

Here’s hoping that J.J. Abrams‘ continuation of the series won’t be all this action, no satisfaction.
