It’s only been a couple of weeks since we found out that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl would be Serial‘s next subject, but now there’s some slightly strange news coming out of the mega-popular podcast’s camp. It turns out, the This American Life spinoff will now be made into a television show for FOX.
Now that every podcast fan has taken a minute to curse their computer screen at the very thought of a boob tube version of their most beloved program, we can get to the few details that are actually revealed at this early stage. Yes, Serial is becoming a TV show, but it won’t be a dramatization of the actual cases depicted, it will be more of a behind-the-scenes look at the creation and critical reception of the podcast. Ira Glass and the creators of This American Life will act as the show’s executive producers along with Serial‘s host Sarah Koenig. Currently the podcast’s creative team is working with Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Last Man on Earth) to get the visual version of Serial off the ground.
No word yet on a release date and if Koenig and Co. will play themselves.
