Today it was announced that Saturday Night Live will welcome Chris Rock as its host at the top of next month. You might be thinking to yourself, “Big deal. Old cast members come back to host the show all the time.” To that I say, yes, that is true, but not as many of them have gone on to be considered one of the greatest stand-up comedians alive today, not to mention a beloved movie star, writer, and director.

If you’re still shrugging your shoulders thinking that this casting is pretty run-of-the-mill (and that this season hasn’t exactly been stellar), let me enlighten you to another little SNL booking tidbit: the musical guest for that evening will be none other than Prince.

Got your attention now, right?

Prince will be on the show in support of his two new albums Art Official Age and PlectrumElectrum, but it’s not too early to start hoping for an encore of your favorite Prince song now.

Chris Rock and Prince will be on Saturday Night Live on November 1 at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
