The last time we heard from The Besnard Lakes was in 2013, when they released Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO, their fourth LP. Now they’re back, and they’re bringing a renewed interest in tongue-twisting titles with them. The Montreal group will release A Coliseum Complex Museum on January 22 on Jagjaguwar. Today, they’re sharing the album’s lead single, the rollicking “Golden Lion,” in which husband-and-wife bandleaders Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas seem to play their entire band like a guitar—everything here is in heavy sync, rich vocals and drums and distortion all cascading together as if they’d been strummed from the same instrument.
Last month, a seventeen-piece version of the group played at POP Montreal; video of “Golden Lion” from that performance is below, as well as the album’s artwork and track list.
