New York trio Battles combined guitar loops, live drums, and swirling synth patterns to craft the frenzied art rock of their latest album La Di Da Di.
Now, the band is sharing a set of synth samples they made in collaboration with famed synthesizer company Moog. The pack of twelve synth drones is available to download for free via SoundCloud for fans to use as building blocks for their own sonic experimentation.
Battles created the synth drones as part of a workshop and performance hosted by Moog at the Hopscotch Design Festival. Attendees, including the members of Battles, built their own Werkstatt-01 synthesizers, and then used the newly built instruments in a live performance.
