At the end of 2014, a litany of stars came out for a Best Fest concert for the ages: George Fest, in honor of George Harrison, for which you can read our review here. Like the recent Brian Fest (in honor of Brian Wilson) and Neil Fest (in honor of Neil Young), the setup was straightforward, but the execution was not, as the collaborations at these events are unique and unpredictable.
Towards the end of George Fest, the stage was packed for a charming rendition of The Traveling Wilburys’ classic “Handle with Care” that featured Britt Daniel of Spoon, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, George’s son Dhani Harrison, Jonathan Bates of Big Black Delta, Brandon Flowers, and, weirdly enough, Weird Al Yankovic. If you like what you see, a release of the entire concert is on the way, and will arrive next month.
