After thirty years together, Yo La Tengo have built a pretty solid discography, and it could be argued that 1993’s Painful sits as one of their most defining. It only seems fitting then that they would choose to reissue that record to celebrate their pearl anniversary. The newly-titled Extra Painful (dubbed so because of the twelve extra bonus tracks they’ve added) will be released on December 2 as a deluxe double-LP on Matador, arriving early enough to make anyone’s Hanukkah list.

You’ll be able to hear some of their demos, live acoustics, and previously unreleased recordings, which makes this one reissue to really look forward to.

Going along with this anniversary celebration, YLT will also be playing a handful of anniversary shows in December, so be sure to check out those dates to catch them live.
