You wouldn’t necessarily expect rapper Vince Staples, whose gritty 2015 album Summertime ’06 dealt with the dirt of coming of age in Long Beach, to pop up on a glossy, club-closing track from Australian producer Flume, but here we are. The pair recently put together a track called “Smoke & Retribution” (which, Flume says in an interview with Zane Lowe, was not the first beat he made for Staples).
“Smoke & Retribution” is the second single from Flume’s forthcoming Smoke. You can hear it and lead single “Never Be Like You” below.
